SUPERVISORS: “A Supervisor’s Guide to Reasonable Suspicion Testing” manual is available in either CD or Print versions. The manual serves as a reference source for supervisors and guides them through the Reasonable Suspicion Testing process. The manual begins with a description of the symptoms and signs exhibited by an employee with a substance abuse problem and then “steps” the supervisor through the process of confronting, counseling, documenting and actually conducting a test.
EMPLOYEES: “Substance Abuse in the Workplace, An Employee Handbook” meets the regulatory requirement to provide educational materials to employees on substance abuse, including the health effects of drug and alcohol abuse, types and reasons to test for drugs and alcohol, and the consequences of a positive test or refusal to test
This 44-page handbook contains a “Certificate of Receipt” that can be signed and dated by the employee for employer documentation purposes. It also lists resources available in the community for help if one has a substance abuse problem.
Handbooks are available for FMCSA (including a Spanish translation) and FAA covered employees.
